Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement given during booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Maghull, you must be at least 21 years old. Age restrictions may apply depending on the vehicle type, and additional charges may be incurred for drivers under 25. You are required to possess a valid and full driving licence that corresponds with the vehicle category, held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of your current address are necessary. Additionally, you must provide valid payment information and a security deposit. Please review the Rental Agreement for any other specific requirements.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Maghull office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are usually collected at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document the state of the vehicle. Please return the vehicle in the same condition as it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and appropriate charges will be applied. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as when picked up; refueling charges will be incurred if the fuel level is lower. If you expect to return the vehicle late, please contact us as soon as possible, as late returns may result in additional fees. You are responsible for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or charges that arise during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Policies
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Detailed coverage information and excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to lower your financial exposure. It is advisable to review these options in detail. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount, unless you opt for extra insurance. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, irrespective of existing insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For specific details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited vehicle uses:
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or other dangerous pursuits. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized individuals to drive is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes, and users must adhere to passenger and weight limits. Driving outside the agreed geographical area requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Limits
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire in Maghull will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount you paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death, personal injury due to negligence, or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We can update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately once posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the updated Terms.
